[Terminology] Cryptotalk versus crypto

Recommended Posts

I see a ton of people in here talking about "Crypto" when they mean cryptotalk, but i just wanted to point out that Crypto is a slang word for cryptocurrencies, not for Cryptotalk.org so when people talk about being in crypto or using crypto, they are talking about being in cryptocurrency game or using cryptocurrencies.

Now i know that language changes, and even that Crypto was earlier frowned upon because before that it only meant cryptography. But it doesn't change this fast and it helps if we use the right words. So i figured, why wouldn't i just tell you this in one topic so i wouldn't have to repeat myself correcting posts.

Yes I also notice that if some one want to mention   cryptotalk  he just mention crypto.  I also want to clear that crypto  means crypto currencies  not cryptotalk.

Crypto talk is the forum on which we learn all about crypto currencies while crypto currencies are coins which are traded and exchanged in exchanges.

Yes, there are many wrong words used by beginners, such as they write digital currencies, but it is more correct that they write cryptocurrencies.

You are right in your sayings, even me I have noticed that mistake made among members by abbreviating cryptotalk as crypto and thanks for making it clear in your post.

These both terms are different from each other but relatable. Crypto is the short form to represent cryptocurrency which is generally known as slag and on the other hand, CryptoTalk is the forum where we interact with the global members to make discussions related to cryptocurrency.

There is a lot of meaning of "crypto" term. You can used it for shortcut of cryptotalk if you want, it is like depends on your sentences on your posts. So i think they knew that crypto and cryptotalk is not the same, they just using it for shortcut for their sentences. That's for me.

Yes, it should be obvious, but is seems not to be for a lot of people. I don't write stuff for likes so i don't need them, i write to make a point.

Obviously you can talk as you like, no one is stopping you. All i am saying that it's confusing to read. Why would anyone use the broad slang word "Crypto" just to mean just one new forum by it? Just like when Bitcointalk users talk about Bitcoin they don't talk about that forum.

It doesn't help when people mix up terminology and start to make their own words that overlap with established slang. It isn't such a long word "Cryptotalk", and by using it, everyone knows what you are talking about. It's just a common courtesy to write it in full.

And no it's not clear when you take a look at the context either; People are already using translators making them speak about things like "Encryption" instead of that slang word, or they use broken English, which is fine but makes things already harder to understand.

At least we should agree that the communication doesn't need more difficult in here, and that we should agree on established terms. I wouldn't even mention this if "Crypto" wasn't being used in topics all around people asking about "crypto" and i feel like i have no clue what they are asking about even when i have been in this space for almost 7 years.

I think before entering in crypto world, we must know that term there are so many ways to define crypto and crypto does not define as cryptotalk that is a huge mistake.

In my opinion cryptotalk is a part of the crypto  world.Because this forum has a lot of information and knowledge about crypto world. That's why it is the best crypto-platform.

The forum should not have been the one that really decides that the forum aims to be against cryptocurrencies. Cryptocurrency forum, gives Bitcoin a reward.

You are right about that, my friend. There are many terms related to encryption, which we must know. The term digital currencies, for example, refers to currencies that are dealt on the Internet and used for sale and purchase.

In fact it's good information and it is necessary to take it, and I noticed that some members indicate that cryptography means Cryptotalk in their posts and this is a mistake I think, because cryptography means cryptocurrency

As you above mentioned l also notice that there are really a lot of people, who use crypto as word instead of cryptocurrencies. Maybe we are using it like HODL instead of hold.

Do they really replace it like that? Honestly, I've never heard anyone using crypto with the meaning of Cryptotalk, but thanks for letting others know about the true meaning.

I noticed that many people talk about cryptocurrency forums in the forum but they talk about cryptocurrencies, which makes me a bit confused. Cryptocurrencies are cryptocurrencies and forums about cryptocurrencies are cryptotalk.org. These are really two completely different concepts, but sometimes people sometimes use it a bit confusing.

The name of the forum has clear meaning, and it symbolizes the creation of a new platform to talk about cryptocurrencies and all that is new about them

Okay, you been here for almost 7 years right?  So i think if the newbie started to used this terminology "crypto" in their sentences, you can easily analyze the meaning of it based on their sentences, you've beed here for a very long time and i knew you're better than me because i'm also one of the newbies in crypto currency. I know you can understand it very well but your point is you wanted us to used "crypto" word in a proper way.

That was true. I also notice that there are some who used crypto instead of cryptotalk, good thing only that other members can get what was the point are and didn't discriminate or get rude on the poster, but, your right it should be corrected to avoid misunderstanding.
