i think that they are considering ethereum as the father of altcoin because they have nice service in paying people and it can be compared also in bitcoin when it comes to earnings.

Namecoin and Litecoin both appeared in 2011 which is 2 - 4 years before Ethereum. However, the reason most people think ETH is the father of altcoins is its platform.
