The difference between altcoin and bitcoin ?

I think that bitcoin's lead in the crypto currency market might end in the future as there are many prominent altcoins that are available in the market will lower transfer fees.

i think the name "Altcoins" was generated from people trying to come up with alternative crypto coins other than bitcoin, hence the "Alt"

Simply,bitcoin is a crypto alone,it is a father of all crypto as it was the first released crypto,while altcoins are referring to those coins developed after bitcoin like eth,xrp,ltc and all coins that you know .

There's no much differences between altcoin and bitcoin, just some addition and changes to their blockchain. Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency, so any other cryptocurrency apart from bitcoin is considered as an alternative coin (Altcoin). The most popular altcoin is Ethereum.

From what I understand it is Bitcoin and all the rest are altcoins, is there anything else I don't see it. Some people don't like Ethereum to be called altcoin but it is because from what I learn all of them are using the same technology with Bitcoin that is the blockchain and almost the same code too. So they are copies of Bitcoin.

Cryptocurrencies are evolving and growing into more sectors as now they do with the defi that is the banking loan system but on the blockchain. As per my opinion altcoin refers to any cryptocurreny that has launched since bitcoin. Bitcoin is the main coin as compared to other coins.
