Thank you for useful post, BTC has really a huge develop from 2009 till right now. Indeed, price is not so big at the moment, but in my opinion it will change in the near future. That is true, no one was not interested, when BTC price was lowest. But it is something different right now.

Your analysis is good my friend and your theory is a big thing in the truth, but there are other reasons as well, for example, whales played a big role in the high price of bitcoin because they got large quantities from it and it was important for them to rise in the price of bitcoin in order to achieve wealth and indeed when you buy large quantities of Anything you can control the price as you want. It is like a merchant monopoly in our real world.

Anyway, once there were some services established like exchanges, faucet sites, gambling casinos there was an ease way to use your currency (fiat for instance) as a virtual money investment. Also that would create more money  illegal activities.

 

As the time passed, more people would know about currencies as the news were already advertising that and price would become even more volatile as there would be more people trading and so everything became a train chain.
