Well, to my experience creating a topic is a good way to increase reputation points. Though replying on forum topics or threads can also bring reputation points, but there are less chances that you'd get reputation points. So, it is always advisable to learn and research before creating any topics. For your information, only useful topics are endorsed with positive ratings.

Reason for foing this activity.

 

Your knowledge increases with passage of time.

Diversion of comments gives you more knowledge.

Plus you can improve your weak areas.

Plus you can enhance your work by learning from others.
