I think it is worth mentioning e-gold in this topic. e-gold was a digital currency that was backed by gold. It was the precursor of bitcoin. You were able to buy it on the internet but it became used by all kinds of scammers and money launderers so it had to shut down.

The thing is, digital or electronic currency are kind of intangible to hold, non physical, maybe at stage.

And looking Ar crypto currency, its actually a type or a kind which relies on blockchain technology. And have value issues which they can help solve on the economy and have fundamental purpose which they where created for, suchs ETH

The biggest different is Digital Currency is mostly using fiat currency but using digital system. For example Paypal, Neteller, and etc. That is only used for transaction fiat to fiat. But different with cryptocurrency, where only created to create new currency for digital, they have decentralized and blockhain system. So that will bringing different between cryptocurrency and digital currency.

actually there is no striking difference between digital and crypto. they both have almost the same definition, and in my opinion it does not need to be defined, because crypto also includes digital currency, because it has no physical form, has value and can be used for transactions.
