I know some informations about this field, but now I have a good ideas about it, and the coin has a specific price, and already listed in the market and we can find markets to exchange or trade them not like tokens, most of them are useless, so coins are the important now

The difference between a coin and a token is not much they are both cryptocurrency terms except when you use the word coin you are mostly referring to a cryptocurrency that has its own main network and when you referring to token you are talking about a cryptocurrency that is being hosted on other currency network.

I didn't realize that there was a difference between a token and a crypto coin, i just thought that it was different naming

No, it's not just different the naming. A coin they have their own blockchain like Bitcoin ETH and for token they don't have own blockchain. Token deploy on using other blockchain.

Hi guys, this topic is made for the newbie. I remembered before I was also confused about token and coin. So I will explain it in the most simplest form I can think of. Though there are many things that can be used to differentiate but I will use the most crucial difference between them.

First what is a coin?

A coin in the cryptocurrency sphere refers to the digital coins or cryptocurrency that has its own blockchain for example we have bitcoin, litecoin, doge coin, ripple and many more.

What is a token?

A token is a form of cryptocurrency which does not have its own blockchain. It uses existing blockchain as its platform for example we have ERC-20 tokens that uses Ethereum Platform such as EXMR, BTCRED and many more. Aside from Ethereum Platform other tokens uses Waves Dex, and NEO whose tokens are called NEP-5 tokens.

So in short there are two kinds of cryptocurrency the coin and token. Coin are digital coins with its own blockchain while tokens uses existing blockchain platform to function.

Coins are any cryptocurrency that has a standalone independant blockchain (Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, …)
– Altcoins are considered as coins that are not Bitcoin.
– Tokens are cryptocurrencies that do not have their own blockchain but live on another blockchain. As they live on another blockchain, they benefit from its technology.

Thank you for telling you what is the difference between koi and tokens. What I can take from your explanation is that the coin uses the Blokchain that has set it up while the token does not have its own Blokchain but it follows the existing platform.

In short the token is the first stage of coin... The coin is affiliated to a particular platform And have real value in the market.... As for the token, don't be able to do it in any platform. And it has no real value.

Coin is a foreign currency that we use every time and the token is like an airdrop in which you have the option of converting cash. Token is an airflow you exchange money for. A currency is a currency that we use every time

I think all the coins has their own block chain technology but the token dont have any own blcok chain. thats why they use other platform to transfer.

This has made me wonder why some wallets cannot accept ERC-20 tokens, because since they just live on the ethereum blockchain, it makes no sense to convert them into some other blockchain which they could fit in.
