Well, I am not denying that dash and Zcash both are good potential coins. They also have real usage and acceptance, in fact, Dash was a very much actively used in Venezuela for a while. But you know when you consider all the things, ETH is well ahead in the race, otherwise, it would not be survived from ICO to its current position.

I think it is very possible for that to happen but it's not going to be easy. Ethereum has a huge volume and a large number of people are using it daily so in order for a new coin to take its place it would have to be one of the greatest coins in the market

No one can predict the future of altcoins. Of course, maybe eth rank will fall in the future, since it's always dumped every months. Maybe there will be some  altcoins who has better potential than eth in the future or maybe the current altcoins can replace eth rank. I hope ethereum 2.0 will give some innovation so ETH will still be number 2.

      Yeah brother, i think it will lose the spot for Ripple or EOS, because this coins are the big competitors to Ethereum, also we can see that this two cryptocurrency, moving very fast this days, and a lot of news about it in all over the world, but also Ethereum is not that easy so defeat, next three or five months of the autumn, will be very hot for the three coin: XRP, EOS and ETH. ☘️

I have great confidence in ETH and I don't think it can lose the 2nd place in the crypto ranking in the next 3 years. It is a project that is constantly developing and is the most known and traded altcoin. First of all, this is cryptocurrency, therefore everything definitely is possible. I think that this might happen, but not anywhere in the near future. Ethereum simply has gotten the majority of the ICO fundraising market share.

Can you provide a new altcoin that can shift the position of the current top coins, there are many new projects that are almost the same every year, Ethereum is a platform that develops Dapps with smartcontracts they make, but we can see new Altcoins like ETI left alone without updates from the developer

There's only a handful of coins that I could see taking Ethereum's place. The first is Dash and the second is LTC. Many people would debate and say XRP, but I beg to differ. Dash and LTC have been pretty consistent in pricing lately, and if they play their cards right, they will take spot number 2 and 3 respectively.

It is possible especially for ripple to take the spot of ethereum. When ripple hits again its all time high. Ripple did so many massive developments this year so it is really possibe to happen.

Once ETH was second to XRP but it didn't last long. Just a lot of money was poured into the capitalization of XRP and XRP was ahead of ETH for a while. But XRP is not an ETH competitor at all. And I don't see any competitors for ETH at the moment. In the future, a new coin will appear that will be better than ETH. But now there is no such thing

We saw that Ethereum went down in 3rd place before and Ripple took the 2nd place. But now Ethereum has taken it's place again. Now the market cap of Ethereum is $20 billion and Ripple is $12 billion. Ethereum goes far away than Ripple. So other altcoin has less chance to be 2nd place.

If someone has the possibility of taking away the position number 2 to ETH is XRP, may not happen today or tomorrow but certainly is a good contender.

Although I feel that the latest advances of Defi can become catalysts to increase the demand for ETH and therefore GAS.

There are a lot of coins on the market that come up with all kind of new improvements, they have lower fees, faster transactions but it is hard for them to beat coins in the top like ethereum

Ethereum has not had many levels as it has accustomed us but it will not lose so easily the second place so easy, they have too much develop behind and a lot of good marketing, it is the mere escort king of bitcoin, ethereum is a walking law.
