Don't worry about these bitcoin forks because they are useless and they are just holding up liquidity that should have been invested in bitcoin or any other crypto currency but its always some rich team that think bitcoin needs to be forked and then the fork becomes useless.

Bitcoin Gold and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) are the result of hardfork from Bitcoin, Bitcoin and Bitcoin gold the difference is only in PoW (Proof-of-Work Algorithm) which was changed from SHA 256 to Equishash which allows GPU equipment to be used to mine by adding Mining Rig. Bitcoin cash is a profitable coin but BTG is the good coin and its value is increased so soon and i  hope this coin will soon touch the high price like last time it will touch when it will come at first time 900$ to 1100$ and i hope this time it cross the 900$ and make a new high this time.

BTG is a cryptocurrency with Bitcoin fundamentals which is mined on common GPUs instead of specialty ASICs and can be invested in many ways for future use.

Been thinking, why didn't the developer made this coin backed by gold, so holding it would have been like holding bitcoin, otherwise i do not see the unique purpose of this coin.

Yeah, there's definitely that, but I'd say the main difference is one of adoption.  Bitcoin gold is a fork that just didn't need to happen.  Nor did the BCH one for that matter, but at least it's trading at a reasonable price and there are some merchants that accept it.  Bitcoin gold is just another garbage coin that nobody uses or wants.

Bitcoin Gold was a fork of Bitcoin to make a GPU mineable version. At first it was pumped up pretty crazy and early miners made a decent money off it but later it got dumped to hell and now its a dead coin in my book. It was an exit scam the devs just sold bunch of their premine at the very launch.
