Coinbase is going public

Coinbase is readying itself to become the primary cryptocurrency exchange listed on a US stock market. According to reports out of Reuters, Coinbase is planning on listing on a US stock exchange as soon as this year or early next year.

If this does indeed happen it would be the first time a cryptocurrency exchange went public in the United States. At this point the actual plans are still unclear as the news is being leaked/confirmed by 3 anonymous sources but at this time Coinbase is yet to file any paperwork with the SEC. Also, the SEC would need to green-light the listing for it to actually happen.At this point both Coinbase and the SEC declined to comment on the news...

 

This would be excellent for crypto... On the surface this is not a huge development, but it might help the crypto industry in several ways. The most important one is that it might further legitimize the industry as an entire . There are many of us that are on the sidelines not eager to invest in crypto thanks to the regulatory uncertainty surrounding it still. Getting Coinbase listed on an outsized US stock market would be a pleasant windfall within the "legitimizing the industry" category. Plus it might further keep the industry within the news, and as we all know , press isn't a nasty thing. Also, many of the investors in Coinbase are crypto funds, crypto companies, and crypto investors. A public listing will undoubtedly make the corporate far more valuable which can put extra money in their pockets, possibly making that cash more liquid also .And extra money sloshing around within the crypto industry can only be an honest thing. I am hoping this happens and hopefully it happens sooner instead of later.

If Coinbase lands a successful IPO and begins trading in a major US exchange it would only be important for Coinbase. The rest of the market won't be influenced by this. A possible Coinbase stock listed on any US exchange would be subject to quarterly profits of the exchange. It won't help cryptocurrencies and won't be making them look more appealing or legitimate to the investors.

Canaan is a major ASICs producer and was listed on Nasdaq exchange after a semi successful IPO. It's price is down by 80% since listing and the listing didn't make cryptocurrencies look more legit. It is about the company and the earnings not about the whole market niche.

thats a good news now we see that the giant crypto related companies promoting their business to higher level and i wish that this new feature of coinbase will opens the new doors to invest and earn some real currencies at stock market .

I can't find the reason behind crypto ban is USA. When all other nations is accepting it widely then USA will stay behind. I think it will help that country to do a mass adoption of crypto currency exchange and if that happens then we will see a massive liquidity will come to the crypto space. I haven't heard of that do we know when they plan to do that is it this year the next one, because it is a very important move by coinbase and many more crypto companies are planning to make this move to list as a stock on exchanges, it can be an important step for the crypto world.
