I don't think so. Most of the people here wanted to follow some famous creators in this forum but of course they also following some of the members here to benefit to their post or topics. They followed you if they benefit to your posts and topics not just because they give you reputation.

Getting reputations from people is what encourages us to move ahead in all we do. But we cant get good reputations if we are dynamic that is if we change our styles. If our focus is on one thing like writing your own comments from your mind , not copying and pasting others, I think we can get good reputation and followers.

I think you will gain a reputation when someone to the forum gives a heart reaction to your post or when you replied to a topic. Followers gained when you have posted an excellent useful forum post, that's my opinion about the reputation and followers.
