I think this is looking like exploiting the fan love for the team. Are these collectibles going to have value after 10 years when these players have stopped? We can think of the example of baseball cards in USA this is a lucrative  business for many and they even have cards from 100 years ago that cost a fortune. But this is tangible, meaning that cards can be rare which can also be on blockchain, but also lost, destroyed or damaged. For collectibles this makes the rest more valuable. Why would digital token assets as player pictures have value?
