How about the QR code backup? The QR code do follow the keys. The way I did mine was that I snapped the QR code and and I stored in on paper. The keys are with it also. I kept it in a very safe place. But, I thought if you remember the email (gmail) you used to setup the google authenticator, you can also use it to retrieve it back on another device.

There is nothing bad to do the QR code back up like you have meant, but the secret keys of 2fa can easily be written down with a pencil. For QR code, you will need to print the code out which can be difficult for most people to do.

I got it)) I recommend (to try) an application that extracts App Data, which is Helium. You follow the instructions, it may require a computing device next to your mobile device, then when extracting data keep the file as a "Backup file" and when you need to import the data use the same application with the import instructions.

The Helium app, is it encrypting someone's data online? I believe it will. And for me, I can not suggest anything or app that takes your file online because it is absolutely wrong. It means it is not longer private. And what if hackers possibly hacked it later in future?

i dislike google authenticator as it does not support multiple devices. If your device breaks you might end up signing many "remove two factor" formulars to get back to your account. there are different apps on the market, both for android and ios, and many of them do have multiple device support.

You cannot backup the 2FA keys, that was initially provided to you and saved the keys for the future, but you can export all your Google Authenticator data to a QR code and scan by the new device(in which you want the authenticator data to be transferred to). This way you can actually export your Authenticator data to a new device, but not actually make backup of the 2FA keys that was initially provided to you.

As far as I know, there is no way to copy it.  You need to write down the codes for each identification and transfer them by hand to a new phone.

Google Authenticator seems to me to be a great tool to keep your accounts on the different platforms secure, preventing another person from entering your account and taking your funds, only you! But always attentive to keep your key. !!

You can easily do that scanning the QR Code from your google authenticator and save it in a safe place. Then, on a  new phone, scan it , and the codes will automatically be transferred to your new phone. Easy like that)

What I do is save the codes provided for each page in an offline folder and I try to have more than one copy in case it is damaged or lost, it is somewhat annoying but I have not found a better method, another option would be to migrate to one Different app like authy that as far as I understand allows you to make that backup automatically without having to save all the keys yourself

I prefer the Twilio Authy application since it allows you to create backup copies in case you lose your phone, the google one if you lose your phone you can lose your accesses, for double authentication factor it is ideal to save the qr and secret keys for then scan them again in case we lose access to our devices, creating a backup copy of the google authenticator is possible but you must enter the folder where the application is and extract the file containing the databases and with a program to be able view keys

I to solve the problem of the google authenticator, what I did was place the extension in my chrome browser since it makes a direct backup copy to the google drive and exports my keys to it and warns me that the phone is lost or damaged and lose everything

If you need a code to log in when your phone is lost, you can use one of the backup methods (SMS, Call, printed codes ...). it is highly recommended to set up at least one of these alternative methods to overcome this situation :)

You can't backup it you must save your keys in a safe place before using it in google authenticatior you should now try ro change the 2fa codes and store the new codes that's the backup option that you can do now

You can't backup Google authenticator codes, but you can choose transfer accounts option then export accounts then scan QR code from another smartphone. I also advise you to download app called (authy) because this app have backup option, you must use it for your new 2fa codes.

I didn't know that I can transfer codes to a new device! Thank you for explaining it to me. It's good that I found your post, I will never lose access to my authentication codes again.

it's totally easy. the google authenticator gives you a code that you have to save very well on paper or on a special USB for your keys, I consider it a very important key, without it you will not recover anything.
Or for each time you generate a code within that app you have to save the code that the sites give you to enter in the authenticator
