You recollected the very things I value much after considering my experience. If I look at some review and see about a dozen of lines indicating so many indicators I get confused and close the tab immediately. And for me too, simplicity is the key, I find bullish engulfing at all time low, at week or day timeframe and I am in, define resistance and put take profit order at 10-50% maximum and that's it.  
And patience in this case is always rewarded.
