Have you ever bought Bitcoin by auction?

I've never bought this way. But I think it has many drawbacks if the auction price is higher than the market price. Do you recommend taking a risk? I have my doubts

It depends if it is convenient to buy and if it is safe. It would be like seeing it as a normal auction in which you either lose out on monetary art and see the reputation of the auctioneer.

I am a bit afraid of Monero power too but is needed. More anonymity is needed in the crypto world. I don't think that it will replace bitcoin, we have seen Ethereum before claiming to be the best thing and that it had a bright future yet they got hacked and a major flaw in its security protocol were breaked. Now it is fixed but this tells us that Bitcoin hardly can be replaced by any other crypto currency. And even if that happens we switch to the new one but this for me is not going to happen.

a simple rule that would avoid mining centralization would be that no pool can submit a block hash solution if it has already solved 2 out of the last 6 blocks. that way a pool will never get more than 33% control, they would automatically get rejected at the 3rd attempt within the last 6 blocks.
seems like a simple rule that solves the 51% attack worry right??
though that can be worked around by a pool running 20 pools and quickly pool hops as soon as it solved 2 blocks.
so for every problem there would be a work around, found.
the problem is not that one pool hits 51% to do something. its the extra fact that a couple separate pools can agree to do something if their manage to control a majority of the blocks that are being solved.
and no matter what solution you find. someone else WILL find a work around. or a way to twist the rule in their favour EG if a rule is created to reject a block if the submitter is submitting too many. that same rule can be abused to deny independence , much like gmaxwell proposes to intentionally reject blocks if they do not collude with core

Auctions are for big investors that have millions to invest. They are not for simple users like most of us so we can't possibly be part of auctions to buy Bitcoin. The last auction I've heard of was the Silk road bitcoins that were seized and it was around forty millions in dollars if I remember so it is nothing reachable for most people that are investing in a few thousands of dollars.
