Hello dear. The USDT is what we call stable coin. It is 1:1 price to the dollar. 1 USDT is equal to 1 USD. Tether is the company that produces the USDT. It is also a company that is sister to the exchange Bitfinex and the same people are behind them both. But I think it has important and is not just anohter cryptocurrency. It has issued 40 billion USDT for right now. And there are talks of reaching 100 Billion inside this year. There is also some connection in exchanges with Tether and some critics say it is used to pump the BTC price artificially.

You are right USDT is one of a crypt coins that have fixed price but lie you said it slightly increase but till now it never decreased less than 1 usd, and the USDT have two networks the ETH and TRC20 for exchanging and holding.
