Syria is the first Arab country to establish a digital currency

According to this post there wasn't established a national digital currency but there were discussions that a private developer would create one, probably without the approval of the government. Private efforts without approval fail, but if this is a decentralized network created it could work.

Congratulations to Syria, it seems very important to me that you are thinking about the future. But looking at everything that is happening in the world, it seems great to me what they are doing, there are other countries that are also making this type of decision thinking ahead and in the long term. I wish many successes to the countries that think this way!

Since more than a decade, Syria's economic woes have been the order of the day, owing primarily to its security challenges. I assume that cryptocurrency has been seen as the only and long-term solution for reviving the economy. However, it will be a long process, and certain laws will have to be changed to accommodate it entirely.

What about the current cryptocurrency trading or investment related activities in Syria ? I think young Syrian lads are still there to perform the cryptocurrency trading. So many users would have been already involved to trade cryptocurrencies to get benefits in Syria. Syria could be also the country to uplift their economy due to the help of cryptocurrencies.

It is one year later from this post and there is no Syrian digital currency but we may not accuse something as a scam, maybe it failed and nobody knew a lot about Syria today because everyone is all about the pandemic. I hope that Syria will make up what was lost and build again, and a crypto currency can help, but probably not one centralized. It will need a decentralized network because inflation will hit badly any centralized currency of economy that just ended a big war.

Well we are here almost a year later and we saw nothing of it sadly, I hope one day this can become true but for now I just do not see it happening.
