I think it's true what the CEO of Ripple says, because in a few years there will only be a few cryptocurrencies after Bitcoin. 
Thousands of coins have been created in the last few years and I don't think most of them will survive, even though some are good projects and have multiple features that are very helpful.
Anyway, it seems to me that the CEO of XRP is not the best person to comment on that kind of thing, because his coin may not exist for some years, or at least not as cryptocurrency as such.

Yes its true, because many coins which were started almost 5 years ago are dead now. It shows that the coins which are present now most of them will be dead in future. And we will see only 1% of present day coins in future.

Unfortunately what you're saying it is true. There are alot of cryptocurrency and this is a little chance to survive in this race of cryptocurrency. Alot of cryptocurrency will fail only a little number or cryptocurrency will only survive with bitcoin. Like talk token. First talk token price was good. Now it is near dead.

I do not believe in this prediction, since the same market demands different assets for different market functions, it is not possible that of the total of thousands of assets in the market only 1% remains, but I do believe that many projects are going to go phasing out for not being successful in the market, but it will not be 99% of assets.

I don't think it will happen in future because cryptocurrency is growing rapidly and lots of investors are investing their wealth in it. But everything is unpredictable in this world. Anything can be possible.

I don't believe in this predictions that almost 99% of cryptocurrencies will likely go to zero. Their are lots of altcoin that are doing well in crypto world, so I think many coins will survive in the crypto world than the ones predicted in this topic.

I can agree with you on the point that there are so many crypto currencies, I believe the number now is around eight thousand which is a lot, and I think that all the currencies with weak projects will fade away, because the market is very competitive.
