I don't think that you can search for a member by the search bar the search bar is only for the search of the posts and the topic names. Are you recommend you to if you want to search a person and you know him personally you can take the profile link of that person and just copy and paste this link on the browser and you can access to that person and you can follow him and he can also follow you then you can easily assess him by your follow list in your profile.
