How to Identify Cryptocurrency Scams

Recommended Posts

Also, scammers are these days coming up with different strategies that make it difficult to detect them. Even at that, those who have enough experience can easily spot them. There are different platforms that offer the service of detecting scam projects, but not everyone of them can be trusted. I guess any of them that want people to patronize them, should first tell us and give evidence of their portfolio.

How do people usually see if something in this cryptocurrencies world is a scam? Emails, websites, products, icos, etc... what is your way of protecting yourself from these scams?

Now a days we are losing our trust on airdrops and ICO/IEOs because the online kingdom is full of scammers. They are stealing our money instead of giving profit. But there are some good projects too. We should be aware of scam sites. I protect myself from them measuring some some steps. At first i notice what they want to do. Then which information they want from me. I never use same login credentials in different sites. At least you should use different password with special characters. Ignore too much greedy offers. Never fill up your KYC and also avoid social media login to unknown sites. Don't click on the link from unknown email senders. Always backup your files to a safe place.

cryptocurrency research, reviews from the roadmap and big Crypto analyzer are important, as many fake projects are now launching regularly, so research, reviews and data from big Crypto Social Group & pages should be collected.

You can spot scams in the crypto industry because scammers are uncontrollable as we have been doing up with scammers who were controlling the ICO projects as developers but in real they were scammers. You should get rid of ICOs because you can be scammed there but all ICOs are not scams you can find good one. However, you can get the same benefit from other alternative projects recently launched.

Spotting scams are not that easy because the manipulators take their time to cover their tracks they make everything look so perfect that you can find it very difficult to differentiate a real project from a dubious one. Just be careful

Never open an email because you don't know where it comes from and don't trust it.

Do not register on the sites before confirming it and try before depositing any money in it>

Do not give your private key to anyone for whatever reasons.

Protect your computer or mobile with a powerful security software.

Do not use a single password for all sites, but each site has a special password, especially exchanges.

Enable bilateral protection for exchanges.

I've got experience of scamming before.  There are faucets websites that will not pay you even when you reached the payout limit. To spot them, these scam websites were a copycat of the original ones, the interface were almost alike. But their extension names were different. Supposed to be example like this. www.freebitcoin.com but the fake ones are like this www.freebitcoin.xyz, consider also the http of the website if it's https it's mostly secure but http isn't. Hackers takes advantages of it.

If you apply some common sense, almost all scams can be detected easily, nothing is usually free. Yes I know giveaways exist out there but even those are not free, they usually require you to do some small task like retweeting something. Classic scams like: Hey I'll send you 1 BTC but you have to send me 0.01 BTC first, are clearly scams and if you fall for those, I don't know what to tell you.

Yes you are right i saw so many peoples that they said send us 0.01 ETH and we send you the coins these are scammers and they are doing this just for money. Crypto is the best market in the world and like real coin and real peoples so many fake coins and fake peoples are also working in it.

You have to be very careful when scammers are known and you need to know some common things.. they ask for some personal information Username, password,  before they pay you..They will promise to double your money in a few days..They will give you a false promise and the more money you have,

The credibility of any project depends to a large extent on the experience and expertise of the developers. If you do not find information about the team that develops the project then you may not trust that project.

Cryptocurrency fraud on this tactic confuses an inexperienced user who thinks he is installing an official wallet that everyone recommends.  Some scam purses seeped into the Apple and Android app stores, disguising themselves as real wallets.  ... Phishing scams are very common, and recently began to gain popularity in the community of cryptocurrency holders.  Always be careful when clicking on any links in emails that appear unreliable, especially when you check emails on your phone.  The same scheme is used when creating a copy of sites.

There is no specific symptoms to find out if the site is scam or not. But there is logical fact. Everytime when you see a site just ask yourself that "what is their profit?".

In my perspective about those scams projects are if it is a new project that offering you a high return it is a scam for me. My tactics to avoid those scams are avoiding those projects that have a sweet talks on transactions and offers.

At least when a proposal is far from reality with unsustainable percentages it is an indication of a scam, if something is too good to be true it usually is not.

I think that if a platform gives you large amount of money without doing any thing so, this platform is fake and can't gives you money for long term. The good platform can't gives you money. In these platform you can earn money on your own skills.

Well you can observe the server of the site. If the server is bad then for sure the site is scam also if they give you impossible offers then don't fall for it simply block that site.

We must be careful of fraud because they do many ways to get it right and the scamer usually provides a site and a link to be able to list several projects so that you are included in it, so carefully before you do it.

In websites especially if the site is new, the real problem occurs if the user doesn't know how the unsecured site behaves. Example of indicator to detect if the site is legit is through the SSL protocol or in short, the green lock in the browser's URL field.
