RBF- Replace by Fee

If you are having unconfirmed transaction due to sudden change on fee, you can use RBF method to have it confirmed. RBF means replacing a transaction with higher fee. Imagine, you have sent X amount of BTC with 2sat/byte but later you realized the fee is higher now. You have to wait a lot of times for getting confirmed of the transaction. In that case, you can create another transaction with higher fee to get confirmed.
Here is how this happen.

1. If you are using Electrum, make sure the RBF option is turned on.
2. Create a new transaction with higher fee as required.
3. Make sure you have put tick on the Replaceable box.
4. Now broadcast the transaction. It will be confirmed as you have increased the fee and the previous one will be marked as replaceable.

If I do RBF, this will create a new transaction with new TX Id or it'll keep the same tx ID?

It's not stupid question but very logical one.

Yes, you will have a new transaction record and previous one will no longer be in the blockchain.

RBF= Replace By Fees the word is self explanatory 😊

I could show you a screenshot if I have an pending transaction but right now I do not have any unfortunately. If you have Electrum then you can check it yourself. Just get the experience.

Good idea! I may try it on testnet. After all, this is what's testnet for.

It can be very useful for sure if there are lot of stucked transaction

The most important thing to understand with RBF is that it can lead to double spending problems, if not used properly. And that’s why the receiver of the bitcoins needs to make sure if a transaction in question is already generated with ‘replacement’ feature ON. And if you notice this feature is ON then you need to wait untill the transaction gets six confirmations before being able to judge it as a successful transaction.

This option available in only few wallet such as electrum wallet. In this wallet transaction fees is very high, so this RBF option we can use in electrum wallet.

Thank you for this information. This is very helpful to me as i have had this problem in the past and i just has to wait for days actually for the transaction to be confirmed. This way i can increase the transaction fee and replace it with the old transaction without having to double pay, which is what i was forced to do with some past transactions.

If any ne use the Metamask wallet they can see this feature if the transaction is taking a long time,they can modify the fee and add more fees to have the confirmation of the transaction,it's a good one that we can use ,I dont know about other wallet

Stil I have not faced any trouble, but if there is any problem in the future, then RBS Method is very good then confirmed about money. In some wallets , this option is available, of which the electrum is also a part of them .

RBF is actually an alternative for sending the transection .And this system is beneficial when you transect more money from one place to another. In some wallets this option is also available so that you can make the electrum part of your wallet.

I didn't knew about this! But I guess the reason that I didn't knew about this is because I'm not really transferring a lot of Bitcoin and mostly, I'm transferring Ripples from exchanges to wallets that I own. But anyways, this is a great addition to my knowledge.
