Basically this helps you to know the quality of your topic or post by looking at the number of participants reacted on a certain rate for example if five members rated on -5 you will know that something is wrong with your post and need to improve or rather work hard next time and probably you will be motivated if the opposite happens.

Yes , this feature is enabled so as to let the creators of the post know , how people have taken it and how the other knowledged members respond to it. Thank you for getting more people to know about that.  If you one day come to see many negative ratings on your post, don't be depressed and just think that the world is encouraging you to improve. It demands you to improve and to push limits. See it the positive way and you will be successful.
