I don't think it was meant to slow the website down neither was it done to make money but rather it is logical to conclude that it was done to ensure that all its users are human and not robots. I think this is the same in all websites that use captcha.

Dude maybe at that time there would be a captcha on writing posts but now there is nothing like this and it's good to not having because it's too too much irritating but maybe at that time there would be some issue regarding safety

Yes my friend, Captcha was interested to prevent the robotic action in any website. But this post is an old post when might be there was the necessary to solve the Captcha always for any post. But now there is no need to solve the Captcha before posting any post.

You are right if the site is full of bots and there are no new or real users of the forum than why the forum is paying a lot of the money to the users? That is why there is the introduction of the captcha maybe.

Introducing captcha is to avoid bots in the site in other to reduce the number of scammers and spammers, captcha is not yet introduced may be it's because there are not much more members but as we no it's is been required during registration

Not bad at all to apply Captcha for posting. Even it's good to put dangerous things away to make spam posts. If Crypto has decided to use Captcha before going to post then it's better.  The outer most thing is that it will keep away robots from entering in this forum.  So it should be applied and appreciated as well. I think it will not slow the working process.
