google authenticator

Google Authenticator is a very useful thing But when you lose physical access to the device, you can lose access to create 2fa codes for different sites. So just keep the backup keys for the recovery phrases. Always look for an alternative.

I discovered it recently when I began to enter the crypto world, it is a very good option to keep our accounts safe. I really recommend using them.
And do not forget to keep your codes well in case you lose the phone.

I see the SMS more secure than the Authenticator. Malware is more difficult because they would have to go to your phone to see the sms. Of course, sometimes I find it annoying when they ask me to verify myself from my phone for some reason and I am in a hurry.

How do I backup Google Authenticator on Android? I have to backup this because there are so many market codes on my Google Authenticator

Go to Google authenticator on your smartphone, in the upper right corner, click the button with three dots and there is a button to transfer accounts.  This way you save your data and can restore it if necessary.  Although without these actions, your data is synchronized with Google

Google Authenticator is an application founded by Google and that serves to supply codes that you can use to verify your identity, that QR code includes a secret key that the application uses to generate numeric codes that change every certain period of time, that is, every 30 seconds. By obtaining this secret key at the beginning, during the configuration, Google Authenticator does not require an Internet connection to work after entering your username and password. It is a very useful tool to improve the security of your Google account, but it is possible with other services such as Facebook, Amazon and Hotmail.

The woking logic of Google Authenticator is actually quite simple. If you have mapped your Google Authenticator to the exchanges you are a memberof, the system will ask for a new 6-digit code after you enter your e-mail address and password while logging in. We will receive this 6-digit code trough the Google Authenticator program. These codes will be updated every 30 seconds and are only for you.

Leave the QR Code from your google authenticator, and on the new phone, scan it , and the codes will automatically be transferred from the old phone to the new one...

Unfortunately you can't but you must save the code of google authenticator if you didn't do that then reset your google authenticator key in the app or site you are using and save the new code before using it.

I learned this in the hard way, fortunately laio94 have already offered you a perfect solution, in my case, now I make a screenshot of each code each website gives to me for validation, and I save it in a folder and not only that, I print it. So, if one day it gets damaged, even just by typing the code number I will recover all my accounts again.

There is no such thing as a backup. Beware of losing your device where the application is installed because you will never be able to restore it, but you can transfer the application and the codes inside it to your new phone whenever you want by entering the application and clicking on an option. Transferring accounts, and then you will see a code or barcode that you will put in the application, with your new phone, and all the codes will appear to you directly

you can find a 12 words for backup on settings page but i don't recommend you to use google authenticator. i use microsoft authanticator because you don't need to keep your 12 words backup password. You can keep them in your microsoft account

If what you want is to transfer it to another mobile phone, simply through your QR code you can do it very easy, and the codes you have will also be transferred automatically.

Google Authenticator is a one-time password authentication-based software developed by Google. Google Authenticator offers a six-digit number that the user must provide WHICH GIVES SECURITY TO ANY PLATFORM USING THIS TYPE OF Authenticator

Google Authenticator doesn't offer a means to backup your data directly, but you use the Google account website to change phones. If you have several Authenticator credentials, a good alternative is to use an Authenticator app such as Authy to back up all your codes and restore them when you switch devices. Another trick is to print and save the Authenticator codes when setting up your accounts

I think it is not possible to backup private keys with google authenticator. But that is possible with the AUTHY APP. It allows to have a backup of them.

I Don't know about Google Authenticator now, because i used it in the past, but no backup included by then. When i lost my phone i hardly recover my security. Right now am using Authy Authenticator which is also similar to google 2fa. What i like in authy is that it has backup options, password and pin. you can use multiple devices and also logout from devices. If your phone is lost or stolen, you can recover all your securities back by downloading authy app (Mobile or desktop) and login back with your password.

The first thing to do to recover Google Authenticator codes is to install the app on the new Android smartphone or iPhone. Immediately afterwards, from your computer, you will have to visit the Google page for two-factor verification and log in. Authenticator will tell you which smartphone you are currently using and show you a button to switch devices. Click on "Change phone" and enter the phone number of the smartphone you want to use (your new smartphone) and if you prefer to receive the codes via SMS or by phone call.

At this point, move to your new device and, within the Authenticator app, click on "Start> Read barcode". Now you will have to use the new smartphone to read the barcode that appeared on the computer screen. When you see the six-digit code appear on your phone after scanning the bar code, enter this code in your computer and then click on "Check and Save". You must repeat this procedure for all the services you have chosen to use with two-factor authentication via Google Authenticator (for example, logins to your Apple, Amazon, Dropbox or Facebook profiles). But be very careful: before deleting the Authenticator app from the old phone you must be sure that you have moved all the protected profiles to the new one, otherwise these profiles will be blocked.

thanks for sharing this but does this procedure applies to authy app?
