gave some money to an old school traditional broker and paid some sick amount of commission per trade ($30?? maybe more). And traded virtually none.

Then I moved my money to one of the early deep commission brokers that offered an automated phone service to trade. Then eventually got the money to an online service. So basically I followed the “available technology” and the cheapest alternative available in the market as it developed since the early 1990’s.
