I know almost all of us keep our cryptocurrency in exchanges. But in fact, exchanges are not for keeping crypto but to trade them. It is always advisable to store your longer-term investment in wallets (hardware wallets if possible). 

This way, you lower the risk of losing your funds to hacks and stuff. I know some of the exchanges provide insurances for your funds, but the stress and waiting alone is a terrible thing to overcome when one is faced with these issues.

I really dont think there is much of a danger unless one is able to really understand what they are doing because there is a lot of people that are trying their best to protect their account and in the end that is how they are not as good on what they do there is a lot of people out there that are so sure not to put up a security measure but the scammers of today are very clever that they can even send you links and you will provide them with every information of your account
