Introduction:

Some of us, perhaps most, are gamers too. We enjoy finding virtual worlds and passing our time for entertainment value. I know that we have to spend our time with the aim to profit too or earn from investing, trading, working. But we need sometimes to also relax. With Bitcoin at ATH and at prices we didn't even dream, there are some times we need to celebrate a victory and have some time off.

 

During Christmas, I found this amazing 3D-World/VR (Virtual Reality) game/platform called Decentraland. I instantly remembered this was a cryptocurrency project and it also has an ERC20 token used inside the platform called MANA. The token $MANA is traded in Coinbase, Kraken, and Binance among other exchanges.

 

About the Project:

Decentraland is the creation of a team of developers with Ari Meilich, Esteban Ordano as founding members. Development started in 2016 and raised $27million in 2017 from the ICO which ended only in 30 seconds! Decentraland is dubbed the first "Metaverse" and was officially launched in July 2020.

What you will need:

A) Metamask

What you need is Metamask. Metamask is a browser Ethereum and ERC wallet. I recommend to install it in your browser if you haven't done it yet and find a tutorial on how to use it.

B) Your Browser

Visit the website decentraland.org and just enter the 3D platform. It is user friendly and very easy to find all the keys you will need. 

C) It is free and it has events giving wearables and MANA. You don't need to spend anything to visit the amazing Decentraland world. Events are not happening too often but you can explore the 3D World without paying for anything, although some private locations will require some form of payments which you can still skip.

 

Platform Overview:

This is a 3D world that is in fact a big map that is divided in 90,000 parcels. Each parcel was sold earlier in 2017 and 2018 during auctions the Decentraland Team performed and the bids were made in MANA cryptocurrency. In each parcel of land, the owners created themes with buildings, games, advertisements even online casinos! 

 

The Decentraland 3D world has even land owned by exchange Bittrex where they have created their own themes! I also found Free TON there having its own land and incredible design!

It gives complete freedom to the user/owner of land to create anything using an in platform creator kit that gives premade items to use, as well as accepts the use of scripts. 

 

NFTs:

The best part in Decentraland is the use of NFTs for a series of Decentraland wearables and even for land. Users can trade their assets in $MANA at the Decentraland market at this link:   https://market.decentraland.org/browse .

The assets are in the form of NFTs that are owned by each user in their Ethereum wallet. Your address will contain your assets be it land or items. And these items can all be traded inside Decentraland marketplace, or in any NFT decentralized marketplace like OpenSea.

The NFTs market can become huge any time and Decentraland collectibles will be all the rage.

 

One big problem that all Ethereum projects have is fees. I earned a Decentraland jacket in a Christmas event and I was asked for $18 just for gas fees to receive it. I edited the fees and used just 5gwei, lowering the fees to contact the contract to $1 and the transaction is now stuck in the Ethereum network for days.

 

Conclusion:

Decentraland is awesome. The digital world is vast, graphics are cartoonish and designers have complete freedom to create anything they have in mind. I saw skyscrapers, alien planets, various games, and events are happening often with many giveaways. Just be careful with the fees and don't make any bad deals. The marketplace is also used by Land traders that buy and trade Decentraland Land. Land costs MANA tokens as said, and the highest prices are located around the Central Plaza area which is right at the center.

Friend, this reply is annoying spam and I am reporting it. I hope that no other spam will pollute the forum any longer and we should all be doing our part. You didn't read my post and replied about something else, XRP and Libra. If you had read my post, your reply would be something else.

I was following this when it started. But like you, i see the eth fees as the main problem preventing any adoption in this (or in any NFT project). Maybe that gets fixed when eth sharding becomes a thing, but it's hard to estimate when would be right time to invest. Right now every ETH NFT project is basically broken by default and investing in any of them is really hard, because eth price itself is getting crazy again. 

 

Right now i am mostly happy that i got out from some NFT collectable projects early on and i was lucky that eth wasn't has valuable so i got more of it.

Thank you for explanation of this crypto game. I met the Decentraland not so far ago and I would like to spend some time on the world exploration, but unfortunately I still can`t do it because of work. My friend earned there a lot, getting free NFTs, so I`m planning to dive into Decentraland universe too

The MANA token which is the native for Decentraland is one of my investments too. But I plan to make a few and start trading land in the decentraland marketplace. I feel that the more the adoption in this world the better it will be the prices for own and trade land. I haven't been in decentraland for a few days, as it was the holidays now and had a lot of other things to take care, but I will perhaps today again. Thanks for reading my review friend!

This is very good to know. I have also looked a lot in the NFT and I will try to find how you can make your own collections. Recently opensea opened an option to create your collection, without having to pay for fees, but only when your items are bought. It is only days ago this was decided, I will try to read more and see if this can help in a way. 

The fees are still very high, but I have hope that when the interest in NFTs come it will be something like the DeFi moments that happened during the summer. It could be great if we are in place, although the time needed is important too and I hope I will not be wasting it.

Yes friend you can say it is a game but it is more a virtual 3D world running with the use of the Ethereum network, metamask wallet and the Mana token. Did you know you can buy land and shape it as you want to, and you pay in Mana for it. Others will try to buy your land later as the virtual world will keep having more traffic. 

The token of Decentraland is MANA and it is traded in many of the top exchanges.

You can't make a lot without investing. The best way is to start buying land and trying to sell it higher. But one piece of land costs. The lowest you will find is $500. Maybe with a lot of bargain you can find in half price but they don't move lower. It is a platform you use Mana to buy items, and resell them. 

There are events that give free items but as with all dapps you have to pay for fees to claim the items you earn. Fees lately in Ethereum prohibit any claim to be made.

Mana is one of the tokens I usually trade in Binance, and it is needed to trade inside the decentraland marketplace. But I have visited this platform some times and it was empty. Too few were active and probably it was the land owners that were testing and developers. It never took off and the reason is that most people don't have idle time for this today.

Everyone is looking for internet opportunities to make money. Decentraland is about a 3D world with blockchain elements having the Ethereum network and Mana for payments. But for the crypto community there is need for incentives. There should be more events but the Ethereum fees are killing this as even for the loot you have to pay extraordinary gas. Maybe with Ethereum 2.0 and enough adoption of cryptocurrencies it will become more popular.

The token of this project, Mana, is to be included in a single Grayscale Trust, as a few more altcoins will, this made increased trading in Mana and price action was positive for a few days, however these Trusts from smaller cap coins are gaining some millions, perhaps 10-20 after a year and maybe they won't be met with a lot of interest from the investors at Grayscale. I hope that Decentraland will have a great future, however a lot more need to be done, and the active population in this platform is very low.

it's quite interesting and fascinating to see new coins come into the limelight especially  coins have the potential to overshadow some of this old coins that are out performing the initial goals

I have already heard from Decentraland and when NFT will become more popular, it is also a safe bet for Decentraland. Because everywhere, we will get more digital arts, like also NFT and decentralized land. 

But I've not tried it yet.
