The price of any thing depends upon its supply and demand. If there are more supply of things and their demands is less than it costs less.  But if the demand of one thing is high and their supply is low then it costs very very high. As there are just few hundreds and thousands of BTC and there demand is high so there rates are also high. The BTC was its peak value in 2016 last time.
