CryptoCoin was created as a learning tool for a group of Irish computer science students in 2021 and is growing to become a true and true cryptocurrency community. The coin was initially forked from Swap (XWP) as we liked the clean codebase and simplicity of it's algorithm (cuckaroo29s), as we learn the ins and outs of a cryptocurrency project we hope to create some innovations of our own, so stay tuned!

Some background on Swap, Swap has forked at block 555,555 to a new and unique variant of Cuckaroo which they have labeled "Cuckaroo29s." but was originally cryptonight superfast algorithm, as we are starting our chain from block 0 we will also follow this path and will be switching to cuckaroo29s at block 555,555. The Swap team have in essence smashed together CryptoNight with Cuckaroo so that they can retain the desirable features of CryptoNote but also improve network security with a better pow than any CryptoNight variant which has been proven to be easily FPGA'd or ASIC'd. There are a tremendous amount of improvements with the changes that have been made. Cuckaroo demands also far less CPU power to validate the blocks and sync with the network than CryptoNight and its variants. We are currently targeting a 4GB memory requirement with the ability to expand that as future tech comes into play.
