Every opinion deserves to be listened, yet I can't speculate on what are your friends' reasons for thinking cryptocurrencies are not worth. Anyway, I think they definitely worth all the time and money one could possibly invest in them, as for example bitcoin has been shown to be the best performing asset in the last decade. On top of that the rationale and technology underlying cryptos is just mind blowing and could potentially revolutionize the financial system in the near future.
