We can use other cryptocurrencies too for shopping but I don't see it becoming what you think. It can keep growing but for what. It is not store of value and fees are very high when it is used as a currency just some  hold for ever.

I don't know about conspiracy theories but the concept of the Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies provide a safe conduct of financial system for the future.
