Followers is not important things this my own thinking.We can not get extra benifits if we have more followers.But you can also increase your followers if you want.

I don't know why you don't get notifications.But i am got all notifications without facing any problems.I think you have something missing on your account settings.You can also contact with moderators to solve your problem.
