What exactly they want to create is a centralized version of their government printed fiat currency, with which they will have absolute control over the finances of their citizens. Same effors are made by China and other autocratic governments that want to tighten their grip on their populations and keep control of the power they possess.

I think they made a good decision as the Turkisch lira isn't stable and money is flowing away from Turkey. Maybe this new coin can change things back.

I have red that Turkey is the only country where people more trust on crypto than their banking system. And Turkey would surely launch their own currency because people love crypto currencies.

Pointless if you ask me. Majority of the alternate cryptocurrencies are worthless shitcoins and only a few will survive in the long run(ETH, LTC, NEO, Ripple etc) along with BTC in my opinion.

Now many countries are testing national cryptocurrencies. In all countries, this is a variant of the stablecoin tied to the local fiat currency. All of these are crypto centralized. The turkish government has been quite open to the idea of crypto and they have been accepting it, and as such i am not surprised that there could be their own coin.
