Confusion about the meaning of the word " Miner "

The word " Miner " may seem easy at first look but it can have two very different meanings. It can be used to refer to the following concepts:

 

1 - Miner can be used to refer to a device that is specifically designed for mining cryptocurrency like GPU rigs.

2 - Miner can refer to a person (human) who does the mining to earn reward.

 

I have seen people using both meanings in crypto world. So, whenever you came across this word, pay attention to its meaning in particular context.

Miner in the terms in the virtual world is a person or a machine who actually uses to solve a mathematical algorithm like problem g calculation so that the code of the block of the btc gets completed or mined & they get rewarded.

It is the nodes (computers) that do the mining but they don't do it on their own. A human should control and program them to work properly and monitor them during the whole process. So, the word "miner" can be used to refer to the humans too not just the computers. I have a proof for this. When you read the news about mining and miners, you will often hear words about miner's income. When we talk about income, it is quite clear that we are referring to a human being not a computer because a computer doesn't need to earn income!

That's true. Many are got confused when they hear the word "Miner". I also got confused when I first hear or read the word "Miner". But through lots of research, I finally understand it. Many people would always mistaken the use of this word sometimes tho, Miner sounds like the person doing the process work of mining while some people understands it as an equipment for doing the mining process. It sounds confusing tho, bet the correct meaning of the word "MINER' is a node that collects transactions in the network and then organises them into blocks, they as well verify bitcoin transactions.

Good topic with good explanation, yes there is some confusion about the MINER word meaning. Both human and nodes of computer are concerned or combined to do the work or the mine together. A miner meaning is like the mining or person extracts ore or other mineral using tools or machines in the real world.

In addition to what you have mentioned , people with no information about crypto currencies, think about digging and workers and dirt whenever they hear the word mining, so it is important to spread the know ledge about crypto world between all people even though those ones who are working in a very far away domains that have nothing to do with crypto currencies and technologies.
