Is this the resurgence of a project that many consider was dead?

 

Today officially the project based on a stable coin offered by facebook, totally changes its image and objective.

 

DIEM, will be the new name of the stable coin offered by facebook which was previously known as LIBRA. 

 

This change was born with the purpose of remove the asociation with Facebook Brand project and making it an independent organization, this in response to the constant regulatory pressure from the United States and the European Union on projects associated with cryptocurrencies.

 

Similarly, the wallet that was supposed to protect the funds changed its name from Calibra to Novi W.

 

It was also reported that the project seeks to offer a 1:1 relationship with the dollar and the euro, in addition to offering stable loans, based on the freezing of the price of btc but with relatively high interest rates.

 

Added to this is the rumor of a possible transfer of the main headquarters associated with the project, to a country with more flexible tax regulations where cryptocurrencies can operate without impediments.

 

What do you think about this? The loan system seems interesting to me.

Well, Facebook must have gone back to the white board with the purpose of correcting what many must have felt was a mistake,

@Amiami I was reading an online article this morning, concerning what you just made a Topic about, how FaceBook ( FakeBook ) has changed the name of Libra to Diem. I wouldnt trust anything related to FaceBook or its owner Zuckerberg. The privacy policy of FaceBook stinks, they follow / stalk you around the internet, will give your personal info to the Police / Government, for just about any reason & without a warrant.

I think the same, more than a change of image, if they want to achieve the goal of being an independent organization, they must eliminate all association with Facebook and simply be a new project under the signature of mark zuckerberg, hopefully it will come back alive and not like a zombie, giving his last breaths.

@Amiami..The information you provide can be good news for Facebook users.  However, the Libra coins that were used on Facebook before had no value. But now it has been converted from Libra coins to diem coins.  Now that coin has value.  As a result, many people can now earn money from Facebook.

Dear friend @Cleaner what is the value you are talking about! Libra or Diem still are without a value, because still are not launched or listed in the market to consider them with value. My opinion all this news about Libra and Diem are just a speculation, nothing is official. When we see Diem listed in the market and open to trade, then we can talk about it or consider it a new cryptocurrency. Now still is not born.

@tienda..right brother.. The Libra coin was only used to boost Facebook.  But now it is converted from Libra coin to diem coin.  However, it is still disgraceful because these coins have not been added to the crypto market.  However, if this coin is sold in the crypto market, then its price will be.  However, no one can say whether it will come to the crypto market in the future.

Their concept looks like fiat banking  system. Which is just come in to crypto world with centralise mind set.

@Syedbesharat In fact, it is a totally centralized system that will work based on a stable currency, however they have not said what the relationship will be based on the euro or the dollar, it is assumed that it will be a correlation of 1: 1, but who knows, some  rumors indicate a different ratio of 1Diem = 0.5 $.

 

Although in my opinion that currency will simply be a bridge, it will not have much capitalization.

The project isn't comes to light and start getting rumors so far we have only two option get in start and make profit immediately and leave it as soon as possible. Second one stand on sideline watch what's gonna happen. But one thing is clear the government must have the authority over diem project and all the KYC data goes to them like Facebook do. All things will clear when they publish their white paper about project before launch.

Diem (intentional misspelling(???) from 'dime') may be a name change from the previous project (Libra) to signify major adjustments, but unfortunately those adjustments may have resulted to Diem becoming a watered-down version of what Libra should have been.

 

Will the functions and uses Libra previously touted become more limited with Diem? And what are those functions they will offer now? Being planned as a stablecoin, Diem will face competition from other stablecoins such as Tether; and for lending purposes, there are now many DeFi-based tokens and projects for that. How is Diem going to fare under these conditions?

The Libra currency was originally introduced to promote cryptocurrency on Facebook but currently has no value.  If you look at the crypto market, you will see that cryptocurrencies have many more currencies such as Bitcoin as well as other currencies.  Libra is over by now.

We have anything to gain with Libra? I think not, it will be some coin used for facebook and other reasons but it will be stable in price so we can't trade it. Is there some way to make money using Libra? If there is it will be interesting, if not I will not look at this ever.

The new name for facebook currency will not guarantee the approval of governments. It was supposed to be released two years ago and it is still having changes, but having also lost a lot of backing from big partners like Visa. I don't know if Libra or Diem will matter when it is released. It can be a utility token in facebook but it will be stablecoin so I don't know what target group it has for achieving some kind of adoption. Perhaps to be used for tips in facebook or some marketplace in facebook again.

It is coming back with new name and some new faces, with facebook hoping to be accepted in the next hearing with regulators. How this matters to us, it is because it will be a cryptocurrency and will have stable value. Maybe being a stable coin it will be added in crypto exchanges too.

The facebook cryptocurrency with the name Diem now, is once again trying to convince the USA comittee of regulators that it is legitimate and not going to create problems to the dollar.
