I agree with you. Now I think there are a couple of projects where cryptocurrencies are a financial unit in the game. It is worth searching for and monitoring such projects. After all, the game can become popular and, accordingly, the coins will rise in price.

Yes there is a very big connection between cryptocurrencies and gaming. Many gamers earn crypto to buy In game items. Even me myself I sometimes exchange bitcoins with online game items. When I am on my phone I exchange crypto with google play giftcards and use it in DIAMONDS in free fire and GEMS in Clash Of Clans.

There is merit in what @Basad said if one prefers to use his time for that, but as with this proverb:

"All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy"

then there is also merit in trying to profit while relaxing, like what @teminalibug is trying to point out.

 

Personally, I prefer the latter. There are also plenty of other opportunities that can be made, especially with the RPG and MOBA game genres.

Gaming companies have often been reluctant to embrace trading data because of how it falls out of their control. Eiji Takahashi is the CEO of Alim, the company that helped develop Brave Frontier. He says NFTs offer a breakthrough by “making possible what the game industry has been prohibiting.”

A new experience

Through Brave Frontier Heroes, players can actually own their heroes — not to mention their weapons, shields and items — via the power of blockchain. It’s playable on any mobile device or desktop, and the app can be downloaded via Google Play for Android smartphones or Apple’s App Store.

 

Using the app, players automatically get a wallet generated, where they can store their NFTs — otherwise known in more technical terms as ERC-721 tokens. Detailed, step-by-step guides are offered for those who are unfamiliar with cryptocurrencies, allowing them to make the most out of this new experience.

 

Since Brave Frontier Heroes was officially launched in January, an ambitious roadmap has ensured that new features are continually being released. The team says that one particularly interesting feature has enabled players to upload their very own illustrations for their characters, providing the opportunity for gamers to express their individuality, personality and artistic flair in a way that few other titles can match. Moreover, the company will start selling a new character from the legendary category, starting on April 30.

 

The idea of a game where users can own, buy, sell and trade ingame items and stuff using crypto is being realized here. ETH was mentioned so I think this is the cryptocurrency that is being used here. And it is proving to be quite popular: the game has had 5,000 ETH transaction volumes at the time this article was written.

 

This is an RPG genre so it probably works like this: you create an in-game character, fight enemy bosses and mobs, get rare loot, and sell them for ETH to other players. You can also make your character stronger by buying items from other sources using ETH. You get to play an online game at your leisure, and you get the chance to profit from it as well. Pretty neat, huh?

 

The only personal qualm I have on this game is that is is available on mobile devices, which BTW, does not fare well with me since I am using an old 10-year old cellular phone that I do not want to replace right now.

Please pardon the VERY late reply, I could not think of a proper answer to this post the last time I saw it. I am also wondering why nobody else quoted this post so far.

 

As for the impact you mentioned, that would entirely depend on how many online gamers will go with crypto, how knowledgeable and active they will be, and whether they will last long enough past the 'fad' stage. For one thing, crypto prices will definitely rise, since these users will add to the increased demand of coins. But we simply do not want to have a repeat of the 2017 bullrun and have them quit crypto just because of the hype, causing a 'bubble burst' as a result.

 

The good thing is that online gamers have the tendency to be tech-savvy as well. Thus it won't be as hard to teach them about cryptocurrencies compared to people involved in professions that doesn't require digital technology. If they find plenty of uses for crypto as part of their in-game transactions, the motivation would be high as well. Therefore, there is a higher chance of retaining those gamers in making them become regular users of crypto.

I made a previous post where you can do just that: earn cryptocurrencies from playing it. The reason you haven't seen it yet on Google is probably due to it being released on the market just recently. It also does transactions in ETH, which is a plus for crypto enthusiasts who don't like shitcoins. Maybe you can give it a try, I haven't tried it myself because the game is restricted to smartphones (which I don't have).
