Hacked Cryptopia plans to open a portal for the victims

I can still remember that terrible incident which also created a quake on this forum. My friend also lost a huge amount in crypto due to that hack. I faced a really hard time showing other opportunities and possibilities in this crypto world.  I think so many members from this forum have also lost their holdings to that hack. If you are one of a victim, here is a piece of good news for you. Last year, the New Zealand-based crypto exchange platform Cryptopia lost $17.85 million worth of cryptocurrency to a hack. Unfortunately, that much amount was from users' deposits, and their assets were gone to the hacker's pocket. Recently, its users have a big win in court that Cryptopia should give the first priority to the users while returning their holdings. 
Possibly, Cryptopia will open a form to return users' crypto by the end of 2020. So guys, keep tracking their announcement. If you fail to reclaim your assets, maybe you will never get a chance to recover your lost fund. You might bookmark this topic for future reference 🙏 .

Were you one of a victim to this hack ? In the case of Cryptopia hack, its operators were responsible for this regard as they had to adjust strongest security layers to prevent attackers. I think, after this exchange's hacking, so many operators from other cryptocurrency exchange sites have learnt the lessons to add strongest security layers.

Thats some encouraging news, that seems to be the perfect thing for the victims to have thanks for the same and I think most of us we are venerable , the right thing is to really be sure that we are doing the right thing we need to work as be sure that we have. Let them be paid , I lost in another , and I never checked my cryptopia plan , I had one but cannot remember every details

@Irungu My friend is super excited now. Just like as you, my fund has been also lost on an exchange and I do not think it will revert to my personal wallet. Clearly, we have to be extra careful while choosing any sort of CEX. At least, operators of Cryptopia exchange are ready to pay to their users which itself a great news.

I believe that would be the only right thing right now, we need to have the payments happening and especially when it comes to understanding the market, we need to be careful that we dont get into so many dogy sites that do not pay but be careful also to work hard to prevail on information that are so much reliable because losing your hard earned money is not right

I didn't lose anything from this exchange but i hear alot about this hack of exchange on many forums.  So it is good news for their users that they are getting back their money. 

I think there should be such system by which hackers account or wallets should be suspended  that he can't move hacked money.

@malik6314193 Nowadays, popular CEXes stored the huge amounts in the cold wallet to prevent attackers. Only main operator of the exchange will hold a wallet's private key. Unfortunately, Cryptopia had vulnerability that attackers detected to steal that much users' deposit. Nowadays, top CEXes  have invested a huge amounts and effort to make system highly protective with the all essential security features.

In addition, they offer illogical offers and do not require two-factor authentication when registering with them, and the sites that you mentioned to us are sites that study these important points and prove site fraud

This is good news and in the interest of cryptocurrencies if it proves that digital assets are protected by laws, the police have continued to investigate the matter and it is good for these investigations to achieve good results for users.

These kind of incidents happens in the world of crypto but we need to not lose our hope in crypto currencies and learn from our mistakes and therefore this is lesson for all the wallets and exchanges to meke their security strongest .

But the case of Cryptopia was different.It was not fraudulent exchange platform. As I have mentioned in my earlier reply, attackers detected vulnerability and hence become able to steal that much huge amounts from user's deposit.

It is very good that I was not one of the victims of this hack, but I heard about it a lot inside this forum and within the bitcoin talk forum and it is very good that there is an attempt to recover the money that the crypto world is full of scammers and hackers that we could be exposed to at any time so we must always be careful Stay away from fraudsters as much as possible

So it will be who claims first gets it and the rest get nothing as they don't have everything to give back. Also who is going to pay all the ethereum fees to all the users and transfer the tokens? This can be more millions lost there LOL. I was lucky I didn't use Cryptopia at all back then but I remember their exchange it was a nice one.

Lucky for them, at least they have hope now. I heard about this news from Quora and some people were really angry but very sadly most of them they blamed Cryptopia security in this case. I know nothing about cryptopia security because i never used it, so am just happy to know there is a hope for their hacked coins.

This is what good wallets do because they respect the cryptocurrency of their investors and they have fight against the hackers and spoked against all the crypto holders in their wallet. There are lots of insecurities in this cryptoworld and even we are storing the virtual coin. So, use cold wallet to store your cryptocurrency because it will be very safe.

@IzealActually, it was an exchange. Before that hack, it was one of the most dependable exchange but unfortunately, hackers came at the end. Anyway, they are looking like to return users' deposit. This is one of the plus point from CEX.

It is fortunate that no site I work has been hacked yet, but we must always be careful because our money can be stolen at any moment.

This incident was very unfortunate for this exchange but we can see good movements in the future. One thing it has lost trust will be regained when they refund all the assets of the investors which is plus point to gain trust.

Not all hacked exchange may compensate but trusted platform like this may surely do after undergoing legal procedures.

Nicely said 😊 Even Binance had once faced the same situation but they returned users' assets and still it is one of the most trusted platform in the world. I do not think like Cryptopia will comeback with the same exchange but once they return users' holdings, I think they win the hearts of victims.

@Whited35, that's nice, but from what i can recall on their listing policy, most of the assets in there must have died already, as that was an exchange for short time shitcoin speculators.

 

Still nice if people get their eth, btc and actually valuable stuff back though.

@rekter Maybe they will open a portal to refund crypto to the victims with updated policy. Unfortunately, if users' holdings were shitcoins, I think they will not be refunding any amounts but in the case of valuable assets like Bitcoin, ETH, etc. They must be compelled to return.

Good news. Now, I expect them to have the database of all account holders and crypto amount even it wasn't tampered with during the unfortunate incident. If not, I don't actually see if this step is feasible and will be comforting to all those who lost their funds.

Very nice. Cryptopia first should focus on returning the money of their invested which trusted them and invested in their platform.  If they will not do that then it will definitely affect their reputation and no one will invest on them. Now cryptopia should come with new security. Because they have to win the trust of investor. And definitely something should be done to catch this hackers
