  1. UPDATE: China has just intensified its crackdown on Bitcoin and other crypto miners, causing some crypto miners to halt their operations as a result. Click on the link for more information. https://www.reuters.com/world/china/crypto-miners-halt-china-business-after-beijings-crackdown-bitcoin-dives-2021-05-24/ As indicated in the news, the affected crypto mining companies mentioned that they will limit their operations in China. Whether or not there will be other countries in the meantime that will be willing to provide cheap energy to crypto miners AND are not hostile to cryptocurrencies itself remains to be seen. Should there be such a country, China will eventually lose its standing as a crypto mining center as the mining countries leave for new areas to continue their operations.
  2. I think the reason behind it is to increase buying pressure. When making a new investment worth 123,456 TALK, one now needs either to make 12,000+ posts (I think) on this forum or buy those tokens on Yobit. For new members, the first option is almost impossible to do, while they can do the second one if they have the funds for it. And lately there have been a lot of buyers on Yobit so I think this approach they did is starting to work. We should also watch out when the investbox for TALK dries out (no coins) again. If this happens again, we can suspect that there is a supply limit for TALK tokens after all, unlike DOGE.
  3. The US is a democracy, so they aren't going to force-feed their CBDC ideals into their own public like *cough* some other countries may do. But there is also a matter of technological supremacy, as other more advanced nations are admittedly ahead of the US when it comes to cryptocurrency and its related technologies (like the Dusk Network you mentioned). These concerns and more might be going to be discussed in the planned debate, let's see what will become of it 😎 .
  4. Any updates on the contest yet? I've visited the Crypto Awards website just now and this is the current standing: There has been not much change in the number of votes for Cryptotalk compared to the screenshots I provided in my last post, but then again, so are the other competitors. And there is still no deadline for voting yet on display as far as I can see.
  5. Investbox for TALK token is active again. Do check it out. Compare with your screenshot photo above. The main difference is the amount of TALK tokens that is needed for a minimal investment. From 10 token minimum in the previous photo, today the minimum investment is a whopping 123,456 tokens! The timer on my TALK token investbox is ticking again. If you haven't pulled out your investment all this time, then go check your investbox as well. I'll update this post once I confirm whether those already existing investments lower than 123,456 tokens are eligible for the 1% interest rate as well. UPDATE: Old investments worth less than 123,456 tokens still get that 1% daily interest rate. I've confirmed it for myself, but for privacy reasons, I won't provide screenshots of it for evidence. If you folks haven't pulled out your investments yet, good for you, you still get to have them grow with that 1% interest. Should you decide to pull out, remember that 123,456 tokens are now needed to make a new investment.
  6. The US has always been flip-flopping on whether or not it should allow digital currencies to enter and influence its economy, without the restrictions imposed as of today. This time, things might become different as the US Federal Reserve finally plans to enter the cryptocurrency market by issuing its own coin. But it's not being hasty about it: it's asking for feedback from experts and the public by opening up a debate this summer, which is to be presumed somewhere between July and August. Below is the video... ...and an article about this major news. source: https://www.reuters.com/article/usa-fed-crypto-currency/fed-citing-crypto-risk-to-open-digital-currency-debate-this-summer-idUSS0N2MK079 There were some attempts by private US companies before in them issuing their own coin, with negative feedback from the US government because of its critical view of cryptocurrencies. Such was the case with Facebook's Diem (formerly Libra). But now, as indicated in the video, the US may have concerns over its standing in the digital currency technology as it acknowledges that it is lagging behind other countries in this field. And not to be left behind, IMO a US government-issued cryptocurrency for them is becoming a necessity for the purpose of staying ahead of other countries in digital currency. Details on how the public is going to provide feedback to the debate has not been discussed in the video and article. Procedures on how to do so may come at a later date, should the preparations on the debate goes smoothly. Also to be expected are the questions everyone might have as a concern. Some of these may be: Details of the planned US digital currency (white paper) Benefits and risks of that US digital currency The role and standing of other digital currencies in the US economy Whether or not the currency is available to US citizens only Any more questions you feel the debate should tackle? Just post them below. P.S. This topic will be updated with the debate itself once a related article is released.
  7. LOL!! What's just happened!? Most crypto including Bitcoin took a fall just about after Tesla suspended Bitcoin payments over environmental issues. And they've fallen even further when rumors spread that Tesla dumped its Bitcoin holdings. This wouldn't be the first time "Fear" is recorded this year on the CFGI chart, but this may be the first time for this year that the indication of fear will be consistent for more than 1 week straight. So much for Musk's tweets to be taken as a bullish indicator πŸ˜‚ .
  8. I believe the participation of financial institutions is an eventuality we small-time crypto users will have to face sooner or later. The adoption of cryptocurrencies now and in the future include such institutions adapting to include crypto and its technology into their portfolios. The negative is that they may become the new whales and market manipulators in the future. Should they ever decide to create their own exchanges as well, there is also the danger of suddenly implementing restrictive measures on their own platforms at a later date such as KYC etc. due to them being more prone to government regulations. On the positive side of things, there is the obvious things that you've mentioned. I'll add that the cryptocurrency-based technologies like blockchains will likely be developed and expanded more to fit the needs of these institutions. Any advances in blockchain technology will be useful to us crypto users in the long run. To minimize the risk of these institutions doing whatever they please in the crypto market, I think more institutions should join in it. Not just financial institutions. That way, there is more competition involved, and one institution becomes more wary of its drastic moves lest the others react accordingly.
  9. This news came in just a few hours ago. https://www.theverge.com/2021/5/12/22433153/tesla-suspend-bitcoin-vehicle-purchase-cryptocurrency-elon-musk Citing environmental reasons, Tesla will not be accepting Bitcoin for payments for now. Possibilities are still open for cryptocurrencies that are more environmentally-friendly. Dogecoin, perhaps? 😁 There's already another news that Musk's SpaceX is going to be funded with Dogecoin anyway. It was also mentioned that the company will no longer sell the rest of the $1.5B Bitcoin it bought. Maybe the next time Tesla moves the crypto market, it will be via altcoins instead. Probably when they buy another stock of more environmentally-friendly ones.
  10. So you knew that the pay-per-post on the English section was halted already? https://cryptotalk.org/topic/106294-new-payment-and-rating-system-for-the-forum/?do=findComment&comment=14894956 What I'm about to tell is just a theory, so you may take this with a grain of salt. With the way TALK token took a slow plunge from 200+ sats a few months ago to a dismal 1-2 sats today, TALK is now already in danger of becoming a dead coin. Too many whales were dumping upwards of 100,000+ or even 1,000,000+ TALK into the sell orders, even now, and where do you think those dumpers get those ridiculously large amount of coins? Not just from spamposting here: that won't be enough. Most likely it was from the generous daily 1% in the investbox. Even before trading for the TALK token opened last year, some cheaters were already collecting tokens despite having an unknown value at that time. The late-season spamfest last year (starting from October) served as a nice opportunity to put those ill-gotten tokens to use. Yes, some tokens were not sold outright on Day 1. It only takes a couple of months or so for TALK tokens in the investbox to double its value, and those cheaters don't care whether or not TALK becomes a shitcoin as long as they profit from it in the meantime. Anyway, forum cheaters can be banned outright here, but things aren't so easy for Yobit accounts. And the TALK token value must not fall below 1 sat no matter what. So what to do? In addition to halting payments in the English section, Yobit admins decide to freeze the investbox for TALK as well. With the supply severely cut and demand is still constant if not falling nor rising, it is now expected that TALK token will make a slow recovery, probably within this month or so. (More of this on this post.) Personally, I think it is high time something is to be done to save TALK. Let's just think of this as akin to a BTC halving. As for the investbox for TALK, maybe it will be returned in the near future, but with new restrictions. Probably a 0.5% interest rate, weekly/monthly interest, dice game requirement, or something along those lines. All of us normal members are in the dark regarding further announcements, so whether you pull it out or not at this time is up to you. I'm not pulling mine BTW.
  11. I'm reposting this here. It came from a topic that was just deleted. https://cryptotalk.org/topic/106294-new-payment-and-rating-system-for-the-forum/?do=findComment&comment=14894956 This is what people get for constantly abusing this forum despite repeated warnings. Even the innocent minority gets affected and some are now pissed off because of the shameless greediness of others. If majority of members don't respect this forum, then expect even more restrictions coming soon.
  12. *bump* I'd like to update this topic with the latest news concerning SpaceX and crypto (specifically Dogecoin). https://www.cnbc.com/2021/05/09/spacex-accepts-dogecoin-payment-for-doge-1-mission-to-the-moon.html Yes, it is no joke. Elon Musk's SpaceX is going to allow payment for funding of one of their rocket launch in DOGE. Details are in the link above. This news is an actual history in the making: if successful, that rocket launch might be the first space travel to be funded directly (in whole or in part) by cryptocurrency.
  13. ROTFL!! Even whales' manipulation on DOGE are no match for Elon Musk 🀣 . Look at what happened to DOGE price charts after his latest appearance at SNL. https://www.cnet.com/news/dogecoin-suffers-huge-price-drop-during-elon-musks-snl-appearance/ DOGE defies the CFGI chart every time Musk publicly talks about it. Maybe someone should make a chart based on on his and other prominent celebrities' comments on crypto for the fun of it πŸ˜‚ .
  14. Nobody has updated this topic yet? You all must have read this announcement from more than a week ago by now: Add to that the investbox for TALK token having dried up with no more interest rates incoming. There has been a lot more dumpers on Yobit than usual after this announcement was made, and they won't be getting any more where they got that from (except members on the Russian section). For the TALK token to make a full recovery, something has to be done to those dumps in the meantime. Well, support for the buy order of [ 1 TALK = 1 sat ] is being constantly maintained and refilled (as I've observed) and that support is going to be hard to break. Now, what are we ordinary members going to do about it? How about buying them while they're still cheap? Token supply has been severely cut off so obviously the token's scarcity is already in play. All that's left is an increase in demand and the token price will only go up from this point on. If someone is to buy them now while they're cheap at 2-3 sats per 1 token, imagine how much profit he can make if the token can somehow reach a 10 sat value (or even more) a couple of months later. That's what I did, after an encouragement from a fellow member 😁 .

  16. Bitcoin surpassed the $60,000 mark only briefly during April before reverting back to $50k-ish. It has almost the same price range during March. If this month passes without another major incident, then Bitcoin will remain bearish at the current price range. On the other hand, altcoins are looking good. I updated myself with the current top coins on the market, and "Wow!". Even Dogecoin has been showing less bark and more bite, being somehow able to place itself at the #4 spot 😁 . Except for Bitcoin and (obviously) Tether, the other coins on the picture have been showing some upward trends, further proof of an altcoin season ongoing. As for the CFGI chart, the curve is beginning to shift more to the neutral line (no more "extreme greed"). Is this a sign that the crypto market is getting more stable and the previous fear of a bubble in the crypto market has subsided?

  18. How about Billy Markus, co-founder and one of creators of the popular meme-based Dogecoin? Despite claims that the inception of the coin he helped created was meant to be a "joke", its persistent presence in the social media, along with famous celebrities like Musk promoting it, continues to be one of the of driving force behind the rising popularity of it and (indirectly) other altcoins in general.

  20. It's Tesla's BTC, so the company can do anything they want with it (that includes selling). But knowing that Bitcoin prices can only go up later on, I think the company is sensible enough not to sell out all their holdings especially at this time. So I think we are safe to assume that Tesla will not panic sell. If anything, Tesla can be waiting for the moment when the BTC market crash so they can buy more BTC. Let's also not forget that Tesla can now accept payment on their cars with Bitcoin. It would make sense if they sell the BTC they got from the purchase of their cars at a later date to cover the cars' production, transport, marketing cost etc. instead of letting the BTC payment sit in the corner when they need that money immediately to continue the production of more cars.

  22. We have the current COVID pandemic partly to blame for. Trade in gaming hardware has been disrupted to a degree as the focus in overall global trade shifts more to basic necessities like food and medical equipment. And as you've displayed on the picture on your topic, even some former computer shops are resorting to crypto mining, and whatever amount of GPU they have had in stock is simply not enough, so they had to buy more, creating more demand to an already strained supply. Maybe the GPU supply will improve once COVID has been curbed, but for how long this is going to take? We do now have vaccines, but with the current pace of production and more new variants of the virus mutating here and there, 2021 is going to be another bleak year at this rate. What we and the rest of the gaming community can do for now is to take care not to stress our computers too much, especially if we don't have the budget to buy replacement hardware if a part or even a whole computer breaks down. Such is the case when a gamer decides to livestream his gameplay so he can earn RFR tokens. Playing a PC game with high graphics and recording it at the same time places considerable stress on the PC, and older PC models might not be able to take it if proper steps were not taken to optimize the PC's performance.
  23. Worst-case scenario, the banned members decide to troll the contest with negative feedback, in addition to people from other forums who'd rather drag Cryptotalk in the mud than post constructive comments about their own forum. The resource manager letting in a couple of those comments is already a bad sign. But taken in a positive light, the negative comments should serve as a wake-up call for the forum mods and admins to review the forum's performance and take steps to improve the forum further. Can you tell us what you've written as your comment entry when you voted, if you don't mind? 😁
