yes computer mining is not that profitable anymore.. GPU prices went insanely high in the last 2 years due to alot of bitcoin miners who buy alot of GPU so yeah you can make some money overtime depends on your K\H cost\where do you live and things like that

yeah bit coin mining will probably damage your computer from experience i have used NiceHash in the past year to make some side crypto.. ended up needing to switch graphics card because of overheat so if you have a good water cooling system its not suppose to be a problem if you dont i suggest to stay away from mining
